Education & Workforce Development
Education has always been the foundation in youth development and I will advocate for the best methods of educating our children. When I was a commissioner in Lauderhill, we crafted the Education A+ plan, which assembled and incentivized educators to formulate plans that would improve the education of our children. I’ve partnered with KAPOW (Kids in the Power of Work) to bring in various civil servants (policemen, firemen, etc.), who would share with the kids about what they do in their respective fields and their own experiences on a weekly basis. By doing this, we expose our students to different careers. Within a year, we began to notice that these children were starting to realize that they can help the community and be a civil servant too.
As Congressman, I would work with multiple institutions in various areas to bring the Education A+ Plan nationally. The Education A+ plan will reform quality teacher pay, community college programs, and free early childhood education so students are better able to learn the benefits associated with mass education.
The Initiative will in various ways, serve to specifically help education efforts in:
Free Early Childhood Education, helping parents afford quality care and education for their children.
Initiating the Teachers Pay Act, which seeks to help teachers who support their classrooms through their own monetary funds. We will have a repayment system that is used to help teachers in their monetary sacrifices, to cover costs for the children with needs that the school or county cannot cover. My plan will also seek to create funds to repay teachers for their efforts, by increasing the average student per-head cost. Each Florida student is only given $8 thousand dollars (One of the lowest rates in the nation) to cover their education needs. This will increase the budget and opportunity for teacher pay rates. We will craft legislation in collaboration with the Department of Education to reform Florida teacher pay.
Holness 2+2 program, would grant scholarships that helps young students increase college turnout and enrollment. Education is the key, so we should commence the pathway to higher education by making an associate degree program for students in higher education. This initiative is meant to help young students with college enrollment and future success attainment.
